At First Nature Ltd. I help you create a landscape that reflects your taste and fulfils your requirements, by preparing a detailed landscape plan for your site and/or by giving you professional on-site advice. Plans contain the specifications needed for successful implementation, and can also be presented as part of consent applications. During the past nine years I have prepared plans for residential and commercial sites, schools and kindergartens.

I grew up in rural Holland, where my father had a tree & shrub nursery and an orchard. This environment influenced my career choice from an early age. I studied horticulture at the University of Wageningen in The Netherlands.
After graduating I took up a lecturing position at Massey University, Palmerston North. For more than twenty years I taught a range of subjects, including landscape design, horticulture, landscape management, and plant identification. I also conducted research into landscape-related issues, and successfully completed a PhD degree in 1996.
It became increasingly clear to me that my passion lies in the practice of landscape design, which is why I started my own design company First Nature Ltd. in 2008. Initially this was a part time venture, but within a year it had become my fulltime occupation. I still enjoy every moment and every aspect of landscape design practice. I look forward to meeting you and helping you create an outdoor environment that is uniquely yours.
